Reason for starting
As an avid vintage shopper I noticed a void in the retail market for a full-service vintage boutique. While there were plenty of vintage/thrift stores and luxury boutiques, there was nowhere for a vintage lover to receive the amenities of a boutique. With my background in wardrobe styling and retail, it was my mission to find a place that provided customers with excellent customer service and an affordable selection of quality, unique clothes. When I couldn’t, I decided to open my own. Style Haven, my newly opened boutique in Montclair, New Jersey, offers hand-picked, affordable vintage pieces that reflect current fashion. Additionally, we offer style services such as alterations, personal shopping, and closet makeovers. All of this is offered at a reasonable price because in today’s tough economy, a woman shouldn’t have to sacrifice savings for style.

How do you define success?
Success is in the eye of the beholder. What I think is successful may not be what someone else deams as successful. I think if you have a goal and you do everyhting in your power to reach that goal you are successful. Not giving up is success.

Biggest Success
My biggest success so far is opening Style Haven boutique. This has been a goal of mine for years. So the actual day that the door swung open to greet our wonderful clients was the day that I looked success in the eyes.

What is your top challenge and how have you addressed it?
Fear… I’m not known to be fearful but secretly, deep down inside I am and I constantly remind myself that “God has not given us a spirit of fear.” I often fear the unknown and work hard to make sure nothing is unknown. As we all know that task is nearly impossible so I treat every challenge like the stage. When the curtain goes up there’s no turning back you must perform so I perform.

Who is your most important role model?
I couldnt choose just one person I look up to my family as a whole my mom, dad and brother for different reasons. My mom has a business mind she’s strong and opinionated. My dad is creative and a risk taker and my brother is a go getter and a thinker. These three make wonderful role models and I strive to be like them every day.
